How are tattoos removed – and how long
does it take?
The removal of a tattoo takes some time
– sometimes up to a year of separate treatments
is required. Several sessions are usually
needed to remove a single tattoo completely,
and there will be a gap of several weeks
between each treatment. Good results are
usually achieved – although the skin will
never return to its previous state. Some
degree of scarring may be inevitable,
but as laser treatment is non-invasive
any scarring is kept to a minimum. The
skin pigment will usually match well with
the surrounding skin once the treatment
is complete.
The laser beam breaks down the ink pigment
and allows it to be taken away and disposed
of through the lymphatic system. This
process is not painful, although the skin
will probably feel quite sensitive during
and between each treatment. It may also
look red, and should ideally be kept covered
and out of the sun.

of treatment for your own particular situation.
